A sharp auburn bob is one of the most flattering things you can do to a face, and one of the least forgiving to fake. At short lengths the parting sits right where people look, the hairline is inches from the eye, and there's no length for anything to hide behind.

Which is why a full 13x4 frontal on a wig this short is worth paying attention to. Most short wigs use a small closure, because it's cheaper and the hair covers most of the cap anyway. This one gives you ear-to-ear lace on an 8 to 16 inch wig — the parting freedom of a long frontal wig, on a bob.

Why the frontal matters more at short lengths

On a 26-inch wig, hair falls forward and softens everything. On a 10-inch bob it doesn't — the hairline and parting are exposed, and a closure that stops short shows its edge the moment you tuck hair behind an ear or turn your head.

Thirteen inches across gives coverage past the temples, and the transparent HD lace is fine enough that, laid and trimmed, it sits against the skin rather than hovering above it. You can part in the middle, sweep deeply to one side, or push it back off the face — all of which are the styles a bob actually gets worn in.

Reddish brown

An auburn-toned brown with real warmth in it. It's the shade that flatters the widest range of complexions — warmer than black, which can drain colour from the face, and far more interesting than a flat mid-brown. In daylight it shows copper; under lamps it reads as a rich brown. Both look expensive.

It's also a colour most people won't commit to on their own hair, because getting there means lifting and depositing, and red is notoriously the fastest colour to fade. Here it doesn't fade, and it comes off at the end of the day.

Straight, 150% density, 8 to 16 inches

Straight is the finish that shows a colour most honestly — no wave pattern breaking it up, just the shade doing the work. At 150% the density is natural rather than dramatic: light on the cap, comfortable all day, and difficult to spot.

Eight inches sits at the chin for a proper short bob. 10" to 12" falls to the jaw and just below. 14" reaches the collarbone, and 16" sits at the shoulder. Straight hair loses almost nothing to shrinkage, so the stated length is close to what you'll see.

Why it's worth buying

  • A bob without the haircut. If you've been circling a short cut for months, this answers it for the price of a salon visit — and you can change your mind that evening.
  • Colour without the fade. Red is the hardest shade to keep on your own hair. This one stays as it arrived.
  • Real parting freedom on a short wig. Unusual at this length, and the thing that makes a bob wig look convincing.
  • Easy to live with. Short wigs are lighter on the cap, tangle far less at the nape, and dry in a fraction of the time.
  • Human hair. Flat-iron it into a blunt sharp bob, or add a bend for something softer.
  • It protects your own hair. No colour, no heat, no daily manipulation underneath.

Care

Red tones fade faster than any other colour when they're washed too often or too hot. Wash sparingly, with a sulphate-free shampoo and cool water, and a colour-safe conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends. Air dry on a stand. Detangle from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb. Use a heat protectant and keep temperatures moderate — straight hair tempts frequent flat-ironing, and that's what wears a wig out. Handle the HD lace gently at the hairline; it's finer than standard lace and tears more easily.

An auburn bob with a proper hairline, on and off whenever you like.
